Abbott Diabetes Care

Description: As Electrical Trade Contractor, Darke & Taylor was responsible for the full design and installation of electrical services to this key manufacturing site for Abbott Diabetes Care – the world’s largest company specialising in the development and manufacture of test strips for people suffering with diabetes. The works were undertaken across two large buildings encompassing R&D, manufacturing, distribution, office space, training rooms and a canteen. The project required Darke & Taylor to show specialist expertise and competency in clean room and FM Global standard fire alarm system installation.

Description: Darke & Taylor was contracted for the installation of all electrical, data and life safety systems to this new build office block. In addition to installing modern offices and conference facilities, there was also a need to provide bespoke solutions, including installing EMI/RFI filtering and data systems to black box recorder labs, to enable the AAIB undertake its highly specialist work.

Description: Architecturally stunning and a complex engineering project, this 300,000 visitor per year theatre is the centre piece of Aylesbury Vale District Council's Waterside development. Darke & Taylor is responsible for electrical, fire and security installations and is playing an integral role in the installation of a complex stage lighting system.
Chessington Community College

Description: This ambitious £23M project to demolish and rebuild a 750 pupil secondary modern school was completed in time and within budget. A number of state-of-the-art sustainable features were installed as part of Darke & Taylor’s electrical contract, including photovoltaic panels. Other innovative features were built in to the design including an “oyster card” style PCI compliant technology to operate everything from the security gates to the tills in the canteen, and a centralised computer system, which publicly displays the energy usage of the building to help educate users on sustainable issues. Project was used as a WRAP Net Waste Method field trial. Darke & Taylor was one of the contractors on site that co-operated with the main contractor, Willmott Dixon, to improve waste management and reduce the associated financial and environmental costs.
